Medical Leaders Joining HKUST to Shape Future Medical Education
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has established a Medical Education Task Force (Task Force) to help achieve HKUST’s goal of establishing the third medical school in Hong Kong. Operating under the Planning Committee for the New Medical School, the Task Force, comprising veteran scholars and doctors with profound experience in medical education planning and public healthcare, will provide strategic advice to HKUST on planning an innovative medical curriculum.

HKUST Secures $30 Million Grant to Develop AI-Powered English Learning System
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) announced the launch of a pioneering education technology initiative aimed at revolutionizing English education for secondary school students in Hong Kong during the Opening Ceremony of Learning League 2025. With over HK$30 million in funding from the Quality Education Fund (QEF), the three-year initiative will develop an advanced AI-powered English assessment and learning system, offering free access to all secondary school students in Hong Kong.The project, jointly initiated by HKUST Center for Language Education, HKUST Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies, and Trumptech, a leading education technology company in Hong Kong, addresses two critical goals: promoting “education equity” by supporting students from diverse backgrounds and abilities, and fostering “education equality” by providing every school with equal access to affordable professional English learning resources.

HKUST Strengthens Ties with UNESCO On Fostering an Inclusive and Diverse Global Community
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted a delegation from UNESCO, led by former Director-General Mrs. Irina BOKOVA, on campus on May 13. HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP met with Mrs. Bokova and her delegation, in attendance of HKUST senior leaders, including Associate Vice-President (Global Engagement & Communications) Ms. Daisy CHAN, Acting Dean of Students Prof. King CHOW, and Acting Head of the Division of Public Policy Prof. Naubahar SHARIF.During the meeting, Mrs. Bokova shared insights about the impacts of climate change on preserving cultural heritage and discussed related challenges. The HKUST team outlined the university’s efforts to foster an inclusive and diverse global community through student internationalization.

 Following the birth of “AI singers” and “AI weather presenters”, adding to the ever-expanding AI (Artificial Intelligence) family is the inaugural cohort of “AI Lecturers” created by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) through the utilization of AI-generative tools.

Harrow International School Hong Kong Wins Gold Award at the 2023 Hang Lung Mathematics Awards
The 2023 Hang Lung Mathematics Awards (“HLMA”), co-organized by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (“HKUST”) and Hang Lung Properties Limited (“Hang Lung Properties”), announced this year’s winners recently. Kyan CHEUNG Ka-Hin and Ethan SOH Jon-Yi from Harrow International School Hong Kong received the Gold Award for their research report titled “On the Properties of the Semigroup Generated by the RL Fractional Integral”. MOK Chun-Hei and WONG Hei from S.K.H. Tsang Shiu Tim Secondary School and TAM Hei-Tung from HKUGA College won the Silver Award and the Bronze Award, respectively. They demonstrated exceptional problem-solving abilities and creativity in tackling complex mathematical problems.

HKUST Joins Forces with Cornell University to Advance Research and Education
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) signed the ‘HKUST-Cornell Cooperation Agreement’ with Cornell University to collaborate on teaching, training, and cutting-edge research on February 9.Leveraging the expertise of both universities, the two forward-thinking partners will work together to explore new opportunities for joint activities and strengthen academic exchange and research collaborations across disciplines. Highlighting the common goals to address global issues, " There are many big areas we can collaborate on, such as sustainability, new energy and aging society." said HKUST Provost Prof. GUO Yike.
